Fabulous flying lessons out of Enstone Airfield! Buy a voucher for a 30 or 60-minute lesson and take to the skies from this well-located aerodrome between Chipping Norton and Bicester in the Oxfordshire countryside.
This friendly and welcoming Enstone club offers flights in rather distinctive aircraft. The fleet includes Diamond DA20 Katana and Diamond Super Dimona. These beauties are fixed-wing aircraft, with a large wingspan that can operate with or without engine power.
That means you can build up the necessary speed for a standard take-off, but then soar among the clouds in silent serenity, before drifting back to land serenely on the Enstone runway - and it's all as wonderful as it sounds!
You'll be paired with an experienced flying instructor for your lesson. They'll talk you through the safety aspects, as well as the pre-flight checks and so on. They'll be in charge of getting you airborne, as well as the final descent and landing, but there will be plenty of time for you to have a go.
Once you've reached a cruising altitude of around 2000ft, your pilot will show you and explain what the elevator, ailerons and rudders do individually. And then it'll be your turn to take the controls. Keep a steady hand on the throttle and that's it - you're an honorary pilot!
With virtually unrestricted airspace all around, the Enstone-based Oxfordshire club is the ideal place to get your flying lessons off the ground. There are also two runways - one tarmac, one grass - and an apron to park your plane right in front of the clubhouse, which is pretty cool.
Brilliant aircraft, friendly instructors and a stunning backdrop, we think these flying lessons at Enstone Airfield are a winner!
