Marvellous microlight flights in Derbyshire! We are offering vouchers for 20, 30 and 60-minute flights in flex or fixed-wing microlights, as well as a special Dambuster Experience for maximum sightseeing over this lovely part of Derbyshire.
All flights operate out of Darley Moor Airfield near Ashbourne. And it isn't just an airfield, it's a veritable airpark with a whole host of aerial activities on offer and even a race track too, all spread across this ex-RAF airfield.
The school has both flex and fixed-wing types of microlight for you to choose between for the 20, 30 and 60-minute flights, whilst the Dambusters flight is always in the fixed wing. If you're up for it, you'll get the chance to have a go at the controls during all flights.
Flexwing (or weight-shift/trike) microlights have a hang-glider shaped canopy and in the small open cockpit the pilot and passenger sit one behind the other. The fixed wing microlight is an Ikarus C42 that, despite looking like a conventional aeroplane, is still classed as a microlight as it is light. The controls are very similar to a light aircraft, with the two seats side by side in that closed cockpit.
Flying out of Darley Moor Airfield, you've got a lovely area to fly over. Once airborne, you'll soon be spotting some of the most recognisable (and lovely) places such as Dove Dale, Ashbourne and Carsington Water.
If you're keen on experiencing Derbyshire history from the air, we can highly recommend the 70 to 80-minute Dambusters flight. You'll soar over the Peak District to the Derwent Valley, to swoop over Derwent Reservoir, just as those WW2 bomber pilots did in training!
Whether you fly fixed or flex, go for 20, 30, 60 or the full Dambuster trip, you're sure to enjoy these amazing microlighting experiences in the heart of Derbyshire!
