What Can I Expect

Kids rallying experiences in Essex for 8 to 17 year olds! Two sessions, one voucher. A 30-minute driver skills experience is followed by a 30-minute rally driving session. Do both on the same day, or spread the two activities out. It's totally up to you.

Down in Saffron Walden you'll find this well-established rally school. Many team members started rally driving from a really young age. Now they are highly experienced and forging successful careers for themselves, having risen up through the junior ranks.

It's all very inspiring for the youngsters coming to this Essex venue for their own taste of rallying. On these combination experiences, kids will be following in the tyre tracks of rally school owner Tom Clark, who started rallying as a teenager and was Junior British Champion.

Part one is to learn some basic driver skills in a manual hatchback car. Kids will spend 30-minutes with an instructor on the loose gravel practising the moves.

Part two is all about rallying. The kids could find themselves behind the wheel of a rallying Ford Focus or a Suzuki Swift. The Focus has been one of the most successful rally cars ever. Your little ones can step into the bucket seats of the same sort of car that brought the Ford Focus WRC team so many wins thanks to the likes of McRae, Gronholm, Solberg and Sainz.

As for the Suzuki Swift, it's nothing like the one your gran might drive. This track-spec version is a wild cousin. With handling that knocks spots off the standard road-going version of these Japanese hatchbacks, junior rallyers will absolutely love it.

And remember, kids can do both parts of their experience on the same day or split the sessions up. All kids rallying in Essex will be rewarded with their very own medal at the end of their drives!

What's Included

• Two junior driving sessions
• One-to-one truition from experienced instructors
• Upon successful completion of your driver skills training you will be able to progress to the rally driving
• Session can be taken on the same day (subject to availability) or rally driving can be taken on a seperate date

Part One: Driver Skills Training

• 30 Minute one to one junior driving session
• Welcome and safety briefing
• Drive in a dual-controlled Toyota Aygo X
• Your instructor will give you tuition as you proceed around the purpose built junior track
• You will be taught to drive on the gravel track negotiating the corners
• Build up your basic manual driving skills
• Allow up to one hour on site for this experience

Part Two: Rally Introduction

• 30 minutes driving on the loose gravel rally stage in a fully prepared rally car with manual transmission
• Generally a Suzuki Swift is used or on occasions a Ford Focus
• Work on rallying skills with a professional instructor

When Is It Available

• Tuesdays and Wednesdays during school holidays throughout the year
• Sessions run less frequently during winter months due to weather conditions
• Experiences are subject to availability and weather conditions

Suitable For

• Drivers must be aged between 8 and 17
• Participants must be accompanied on site by an adult
• Participants must not hold a driving licence
• Maximum weight is 16 stone
• Safety helmets are provided for the rally session and must be worn
• Please note juniors will only progress to the rally car if they are competent in part one of the experience. Should the rally car not be suitable for safety reasons the remaining session will take place in the Aygo X

Spectators

• Spectators are welcome and there are great viewing areas of the whole track
• Please advise when booking your date if you are planning to bring more than 3 people with you
