Winter with the donkeys! Cosy up to the gorgeous donkeys for a cuddle and some grooming, with a hot chocolate and food to warm the cockles of your heart on a winter’s day!
‘The Donkeys’ at Holly Grange in Balsall Common near Solihull is a not-for-profit organisation, which looks after a herd of miniature donkeys who are literally living their best lives in the paddock, meeting new friends and generally having fun together.
During the winter months donkeys are extra fluffy (and therefore extra cute!) as their fur coats grow longer, so they still like stepping outside on lovely, crisp days to greet visitors like you!
You will meet the likes of Grace, Bertram, Daisy B, James, Florence, Harriet, Storm and friends. Each donkey very much has their own character and personality and they are an absolute delight when they are together as a herd - and often quite cheeky too!
To start off your winter’s day experience with the donkeys, you’ll be invited to the timber hay barn for a little feast, with the likes of sausage rolls, chocolate brownies and even mince pies, accompanied by a nice, warming cup of hot chocolate.
Then, throughout your visit, you’ll be able to spend quality time with the donkeys, helping with grooming, maybe feeding them a Ginger Nut or two (their absolute favourite special treat!) and getting lots of adorable selfies with them.
This centre is not normally open to the public, so these invites to join the donkeys on a winter’s day are a real treat for both you and the residents!
