Join the team at Anvil Forge for a blacksmith experience day in Berkshire! Spend the whole day learning to work that metal on these fantastic small-group workshops.
Somewhere between Basingstoke and Wokingham along a quiet country lane, you'll find this welcoming forge near the village of Farley Hill. John is the principal blacksmith and with his talented team, you'll really make the most of time at the forge with lots of hands-on blacksmithing.
All the safety gear is provided for you and you'll all have a full safety briefing so you'll know what to expect. A working forge is a hot, dusty, dirty and physical environment, so be ready to get properly stuck to get the most out of these special beginner blacksmith days in Berkshire.
Your first task will be to make a fire poker. Using a length of plain mild steel, you'll forge a taper to make a point at one end. Then you will work on something nice and creative on the handle end to complete your stylish and very usable fire poker!
After that first little blacksmithing task, you will all have the chance to work on your own metalwork project. Students in the past have forged all sorts of things from garden sculptures to magazine racks. Your choice can be discussed in advance with the tutors, who will help you realise your dream piece.
And of course, everything you make on this one-day blacksmithing course in the Berkshire countryside is yours to keep. All the raw materials you need to create your bespoke pieces of metal art is provided. We think you'll be amazed at what you can achieve during a one-day course!
