What Can I Expect

Isle of Wight helicopter lessons - a special place for learning to fly a helicopter! All the gorgeousness of England's second largest populated island is right there underneath your feet as you head up in a heli on a 20, 30 or 60-minute lesson!

Lessons are operated by four-seater helicopters out of Sandown Airport. These Robinson R44 choppers are renowned the world over for being stable, reliable and rugged. You will love flying the R44.

You'll also love Sandown Airport. Owned and run by the most enthusiastic aviators you could ever meet, the team's aim is to make flying  enjoyable for all visitors, whether you're a pilot, learning to fly or a spectator. That's why there is free parking, a children's play area, some fascinating exhibits, a wonderful pizza oven and cafe on site. Everyone is invited to come and join in the fun.

Talking of which, being a four seater helicopter, means that (for a small additional charge) you can invite two guests to sit in the rear seats of the heli as you fly. It's a great little extra that'll make your experience even more memorable.

We are offering 20, 30 and 60-minute helicopter lessons all year round from Isle of Wight Sandown Airport. All lessons are on a one-to-one basis and you'll  have lots of time at the controls actually flying the heli. Whether you're an Islander or just visiting, this is a superb choice of destination. What's Included

• 1:1 helicopter flying lessons with a CAA qualified instructor
• Flights are taken in Robinson R44 four-seater helicopters
• 20, 30 and 60 minute flights are available
• Welcome, introduction and pre-flight briefing
• Your instructor will explain all aspects of your flight, the effects of the controls and how a helicopter flies
• Opportunity to take the controls during your flight
• Up to two observers may also share this experience at an additional cost of £25 for one or £40 for two payable direct to the flying school (This will be at the discretion of the pilot and subject to combined weight restrictions)
• Free pilots notes and signed certificate
• Flight time counts towards your pilots licence

Suitable For

• Minimum age 12
• Under 18s must be accompanied on the airfield by an adult
• Maximum weight 133kg
• Maximum height 1.98m

Spectators

• Spectators are welcome and may take photographs
