Archery in the beautiful countryside of Rufforth, near York! We are offering one-hour taster sessions with the bow and arrow at this outdoor range that's easily accessible from the A59.
Just a 20-minute drive from York city centre you'll find this wonderful outdoor activity centre. It's well-maintained, well-organised and well-equipped, which is exactly how we like it! The team offers a range of activities on this Rufforth site and archery is one of the most popular. The minimum age is 12 years old. You'll need to be a minimum of two people for this experience, with a maximum group size of 12.
The range is really well presented, with lovely countryside views all around. It's sheltered too, so a bit of rain won't stop play. As for the equipment, everything you need to have a go at archery is provided for you. This Rufforth centre uses recurve bows, as they are light and easy to handle for beginners and novices. They come in all different sizes, so one to suit your build and frame will be chosen for you.
And before you ask, no, you don't need to be super strong to be a good archer! You'll have the right bow for your stature and after that, it's all about technique, not strength. The fun and friendly instructors at Rufforth will show you how to stand, how to ‘knock' and release your arrow. They're all Archery GB trained, so they've got all the tips and hints to get you going.
As well as aiming at traditional coloured roundel targets, there will also be a selection of games and challenges for you during your one-hour session. After all, there's nothing more satisfying than popping a balloon or hitting that bullseye dead-on is there?
Great value for money and superb entertainment for all ages, these archery sessions at this Rufforth range come highly recommended. Perfect for families, couples, work mates and groups of friends alike - and just a few miles west of York's centre too.
