Go gliding over Wiltshire and soar over the famous Vale of White Horse! We are offering vouchers for 2000ft and 3000ft glider flights from the very lovely Sandhill Farm Airfield near Swindon on the Wiltshire / Oxfordshire border.
The club is a member of the British Gliding Association and adheres to all the strict rules and guidelines when it comes to flying and maintaining its fleet, but all without losing that convivial club feel. There are around 40 regular members here who come along to run, organise and glide.
The small hangar on site houses, amongst others, two Schleicher ASK13 tandem trainer gliders and the Piper Pawnee tug. This is the plane to tow you into the air, where you'll be released at either 2000 or 3000ft to go soaring through the Wiltshire skies, letting the wind take you. A truly blissful way to enjoy silent flight.
This club has a nice long grass runway, giving you and the tow plane plenty of room for manoeuvres. Your lesson will be in one of the two seater Schleicher gliders, with a fully qualified gliding instructor. You'll learn a few basics of glider flight, with things like air brakes and the three types of lift being explained to you in layman's terms.
You might also have the chance to meet other members who help with ground duties such as logging and signalling, giving you a real insight into how this friendly glider club in the Vale of White Horse is run.
Whether you go for the 2000 or 3000ft experience, there will be time for you to have a look around the glider, chat with your pilot instructor and, once in the air, you'll get the chance to have a go with the glider controls. Book your slot to go gliding in Wiltshire now!
