Paddle boarding in Dumfries - with a difference! You will love the unique location for these stand up paddle board sessions. It's a family-run inn with an in-house watersports centre right on the very edge of Auchenreoch Loch and it's fantastic!
On the A75 between Crocketford and Springholm, you'll find the waterside inn. On the roadside there is ample free car parking. On the lakeside, well, what a view! You are looking right across the loch with all the beauty of the Dumfries & Galloway hills beyond. The pontoon is literally at the bottom of the restaurant's terrace, so getting to the launch spot couldn't be easier.
Your instructor will welcome you on site and go through what you can expect from your paddle boarding session. We are offering vouchers for a one-hour taster and a three-hour adventure. Maximum group sizes are eight, which is just the right size for these sort of trips.
If you've never paddled before, the taster is ideal. You will start off gently in the area around the pontoon, learning how to get on (and off) the board, how to hold and use the paddle and controlling which way you go, before heading out further.
Don't worry if you're new to the sports of paddle boarding. The waters of this Dumfries loch are ideal, as they are relatively sheltered. And your instructor is super patient and an excellent teacher!
If you fancy exploring the loch, go for the three-hour session. That'll give you plenty of time to gently paddle around, checking out the superb Scottish scenery and wildlife as you go. Auchenreoch covers about 100 acres, so there's plenty of paddling to be done.
And of course, after all your efforts on the water, what could be better than settling down to a drink or some food on the terrace of the inn's restaurant? A cocktail at sunset, a burger for lunch or an all-day breakfast brunch. A delicious way to round off the day you went paddle boarding near Dumfries!
