What Can I Expect

You will be driving a genuine FV432 APC (that's Armoured Personnel Carrier). These full-tracked tanks served as the backbone of the Armed Forces and indeed this particular tank is ex-British Army.

This tank and hundreds like it, would have been deployed in war zones and at training bases around the world. They are versatile and take on many roles, from field ambulances and soldier transport, to command vehicles and 81mm mortar carriers.

The beauty of the 432 is in its simplicity. It's basically a box of armoured, all-welded steel that can resist shelling and blasts. The tank is also surprisingly agile, (despite weighing in at 18-tons) and you'll get to find out when you are at the helm.

What makes this Scottish venue stand out is the fact that it is natural habitat for the FV432. Rugged, wet, muddy and full of inclines. Just what this formidable vehicle loves.

You can either go for a one-to-one personal lesson, which gives you sole access to the tank and up to 20-minutes of drive time just for you. All drivers will get a comprehensive briefing, so you know how the controls work. It all feels really different inside a tank (there are hatches and periscopes and all sorts!) and it's sure to be like nothing else you have ever driven.

What's Included

• Drive an ex-British Army APC 432 tank
• Field briefing will be given before your tuition
• Tuition from an experienced instructor
• Drive the tank for one circuit of the course through water (depending on weather and time of the year) and over steep inclines
• Please note drive time is dependant on the speed you drive.  The circuit can be completed quicker however this is not recommended

1:1 Tank Driving

• One to One private tank driving session for one person
• Allow approximately one hour for this experience with up to 20 minutes drive time

Exclusive Family Driving

• Exclusive session for up to four people
• Allow approximately 2 hours on site with up to 20 minutes drive time each
• Experience riding in the crew compartment at the rear of the tank when not driving

When Is It Available

• Selected weekends throughout the year
• Dates and session times are subject to availability
• Experiences operate in most weather conditions (snow may affect the event)

• Drivers must be over 5ft (152cms)

1:1 Tank Driving

• Minimum age 16

Exclusive Family Driving 

• Minimum driver age 9
• Under 18s must be accompanied by a participating adult

Spectators

• Specators are welcome to observe from the viewing gallery
• Tank rides can are available for £10 per person, payable on the day

Anything Else

• Suitable outdoor clothing and footwear should be worn
• Participants must bring a printed copy of their voucher on the day.  Mobile phone signal is weak in the area so digital copies are not suitable
