Exclusive small group hovercrafting near Warwick! These sessions are for up to six of you to enjoy a private, one-hour hovercraft experience - and, we have to day, they are brilliant things to drive (or should that be fly?).
This Warwick-based outdoor centre has over 100 acres to play with. Which is just as well, because it takes a lot of room to run a hovercraft. You will be in a big, open field for these sessions, so you've got all the space you need.
They use the Snapper craft by Flying Fish on this Warwickshire course. It's one of the best for first-time hovercrafters. And here's how it works. The large fan at the rear of the hovercraft draws in air and forces it under the ‘skirt'. That lifts the craft off the ground. The fan also propels the hovercraft forward.
Sitting on your knees, you use the handlebar throttle to control the fan speed (and therefore the amount of air). Turning the handlebar moves the fins mounted behind the fan, to direct the air, so you can move left or right. You'll also learn that using your bodyweight helps you turn too.
Remember, there are no gears and no brakes and it takes a long time to turn, so you need to anticipate those corners. And, if you get the knack, you'll get a nice slide going around the bends that's bound to make you go ‘wooooaaahh!'
We think you and your buddies will love these private hover sessions. Get a group of you together and have fun trying to conquer the craziness of the Snapper hover at this friendly and welcoming Warwickshire venue.
